ILLAWARRA Steelers legends Shaun Timmins, Paul McGregor, Rod Wishart, John Simon and Brad Mackay will join forces to play in a star-studded side at next month's Kiama Knights Nines tournament.
The former Steelers players will compete in the annual event, which boasts a total prize pool of more than $15,000, to help raise funds for the Joanne Mackay Breast Cancer Foundation. The tournament will be held at Kiama on March 3 - the same day as the Dragons' Charity Shield clash with South Sydney."It should be good fun," Timmins said yesterday. "I should get through. I've been playing touch once a week so they're (his injured knees) holding up. I don't know how fit all the boys will be. I think a few blokes are gonna dust some cobwebs off and have a run, but there won't be any training. I don't know how serious we're gonna take it. I don't think we'll win it."Timmins retired from the NRL at the end of last season following St George Illawarra's exit at the preliminary final stage. The Kiama product played 210 first grade games, making his first grade debut for the Steelers back in July 1994 against Cronulla. He went on to represent both NSW and Australia and was named in the Steelers' 25th anniversary Team of Steel, along with McGregor, Wishart, Simon and Mackay.
